A Vietnamese court sentenced former Xuyen Viet Oil chief Mai Thi Hong Hanh to 30 years in prison for orchestrating a scheme that resulted in state asset losses of at least 1.46 trillion dong ($57.6 million) and bribing officials to conceal it. Le Duc Tho, the former Communist Party chief of Ben Tre province, received a 28-year sentence for accepting bribes and abusing his power, while former deputy trade minister Do Thang Hai was sentenced to three years for receiving bribes.
